Where is your business located?
Ontario, Canada
Where did the idea for your business come from?
I started my company over 25 years ago, because I was looking for a new challenge.
Throughout the years, I have changed corporate direction 3 times. This chapter is all about Mentorship and sharing stories that inspire great ideas!
When I started my career there were very few mentors for women by women, it was all blue suits and red ties. Thankfully times are changing....
My vision is to share stories that will ignite your passion to pursue your dreams.
How? With our Share Your Story guest blog series, as The Mentors, Mentor and as a speaker sharing stories.
What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Gratitude...a few words of thanks is a great way to start the day.
What does your work day look like and how do you maximize your productivity?
I start the day with a brisk walk or yoga. I do my best thinking when I'm walking and the fresh air is also good for your soul.
There is no better way to maximize your productivity than with a healthy start to your day.
How do you bring your great business ideas to the world to serve your clients?
The best connection is through your network. Providing introductions to inspire connections that lead to collaboration.
On a tactical front:
As a speaker, on the stage, I have the privilege of sharing stories that keep it real and inspire great ideas.
As an author, Breaking Barriers 10 Entrepreneurial Women Share Their Stories creates a platform for mentorship.
Of course...social media provides a platform to start a conversation and create introductions.
What is one trend in business that excites you?
Mentorship....hands down. It is a powerful platform to share expertise which I call your "brand of magic" with others to inspire success.
What is one strategy that helped you grow your business?
Life-long learning. I believe that we all need to have a number of tools in our personal toolbox that shapes and forms our skills and contributes to how we navigate the journey.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
What a wonderful word "failure" .
It is the foundation for growth and opportunity and I have faced many "failures" in the last 25 years. To be honest, the biggest failure was not reaching out for help when I experienced corporate burn-out the first time.
I had been working too hard for too long and my body just could no longer handle the pace. If I had reached out sooner, I may have been able to recover quicker and with less collateral damage. That is why I now have a commitment for the balance between wealth and wellbeing!
What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to this community?
Find a mentor!
It may be your best experience...find the person who will be there for YOU not only when things are going well but when the chips are down. Someone who will ask the tough questions and share both the laughter and the tears on your journey!
What is the best $100 you have recently spent? on What? Why?
I really needed a little R&R and so I went to a local spa and had a massage...heavenly...one hour of unplugged bliss!
What is one piece of software or app that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
I am so NOT a techie person, but I did recently download a meditation app - called Breathe.
It gives me an opportunity to refocus energy when I need it most...on my phone...I call it meditation on the go!
What is the best business book you have read? Why?
