Planning To Make Money

You made a plan, implemented a strategy, and knew it would work.

Then it didn’t.

The results didn’t come. The impact wasn’t felt, and the thing you were certain would be the perfect way to share your expertise and attract clients appeared to fail.

How many times have you committed to something in your business, like blogging, videos, newsletters or a new social media strategy, only to become discouraged when the results don’t come? How many times have you stopped midstream, switched strategies and moved on to something else?

Here’s the thing friend – sticking with the plan is harder than making the plan.

If you’re not willing to stick with the plan you are allowing inconsistency to guide your business. Inconsistencies cost you opportunities and money.

You have to stick with the plan even when you think it’s not producing results, and especially when you think no one is watching. Those are the moments that grow your business.

I know because it’s happened to me.

Earlier this year I received an email from a guy at Facebook. He said he found my business page compelling for women in business and wanted to talk with me about being on a panel for an event they were hosting in my area.

Initially I was skeptical. (Yeah right, you’re with Facebook.) A couple phone interviews later my skepticism was replaced with gratitude after being selected as one of four women business owners to take part in a Boost Your Business panel.

Facebook did not choose me at random. They chose me because I made a plan, stuck with it and was able to share the results and effects of implementing that plan. None of this happened overnight, and trust me, there were times I wondered if it was worth it. In the end, consistency pays off and what you think are monotonous tasks are consistent efforts. For me, I welcomed $30,000 new business as a result of those efforts.

So the next time you’re tempted to ditch your plan, don’t. When you start to wonder if your blogging, videos, newsletters or social media strategy matters, it does. Stick to your plan. Consistency pays off in the end.

If you’re not seeing the results you expected it’s time to evaluate your consistency and if you’ve developed a complete plan to reach your goals.
