Friday's Featured Entrepreneur - Molly Klipp - Carefree Beauty Permanent MakeUp
Each Friday meet a featured entrepreneur, all are trusted colleagues, many I am honored to call friends, the others I just stalked mercilessly until they said YES, and some are even current clients or graduated ones.....but I'll let them decide if they want to share that! You'll learn a thing or two and likely laugh a bit. They are all as candid in real life as they are here!

Describe yourself – I am a vibrant, caring, fun and loving person. As much as I love everything about life, my passion is my family. My husband John is my best friend forever! We have been married for 39 years. We have 4 wonderful children, Kerry, Keegan, Maggie and Rudy, a wonderful son-in- law and daughter-in- law and the 3 most beautiful
grandsons in the world. Early in 2014 I came to the conclusion that as much as I enjoyed applying makeup to my clients for 34 years, I LOVED applying permanent makeup to my clients to make their everyday lives easier!
Describe your business – My favorite procedure is microstroke/microblade eyebrows. A somewhat new procedure in the United States that allows you to have tiny hairlike strokes put in and among your eyebrows to give you a more natural fuller look to complete eyebrows that are sparse and disappearing. Designer and permanent eyeliner is another favorite as it gives you a finished look with your choice of a tiny line or a thicker line so you don’t deal with smudged
eyeliner or disappearing eyeliner throughout the day. Great for busy women that don’t want to have to spend time anymore getting ready in the morning. You wake up ready!
What are the stunning results clients/customers get when they hire and
work with you? The best thing I can tell you is the testimonies of my clients. A text I received the morning after her procedure: “I woke up with eyebrows today!” or another “Today, I met with a master of eyebrows creator in the Pacific Northwest. For the past 15 years daily I have spent an obnoxious amount of time on perfecting my eyebrows. I have also made cosmetic companies very rich buying eyebrow pencils, creams, powders and brushes. Today, I have been given the gift of the eyebrows I was born with!!!! Thank you Molly Klipp for your artistry, care and expertise. LADIES, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Best MONEY spent in 2016!!!! Not a single second was given this
morning to drawing in my eyebrows!!!! As a matter of fact I had so much time putting on my eyeliner I poked my eye!!!!! Gawd I love Carefree Beauty, down side is you might get hate mail from some cosmetic companies for the decline in their eyebrow enhancing dept. Ladies, seriously get your eyebrows done immediately!!!” I think that says it best!
What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received? Know how much money you want to make, figure out a plan to make it and then find out the best way to achieve your plan and then DO IT! You have to believe it is going to happen BEFORE it does, then the magic begins!
You’ll figure out the how along the way!
What’s the biggest challenge you ever faced in your business and how did
you resolve it? The franchise company I owned for 30 years the owners shut down my
permanent makeup business because they felt it was a conflict of interest. I didn’t believe it was, but I had to comply because I was under contract. I shut down my website, anything I posted on line, kept my yelp account up and posted all my before and after pictures there and I networked like crazy face to face to build my business. Then I sold my franchise so that I could do my permanent makeup business full time. I was kind of motivated to “show me” that I could build it fast. I was told that it takes 3 years to build a business in permanent makeup – I never felt I had that much time. I had one year to get it to six figures, I did in 11 months with a lot of help from my networking friends!
What’s the one question you wish clients would ask you but they never do? What are your certifications? In Washington state permanent makeup artists and tattoo artists are not required to be trained to do this business. They can just purchase a license and go to work. I get a lot of correction work from people who wanted to “save money” and chose the cheaper version of getting their brows and liner done and it always is painful (both emotionally and physically) and then they come to me.
Best time saving business tool you use? Booker. Com = my scheduling website that sends out notifications thru email when they book, 48 hours before their appointment it sends out text
reminders, emails after the appointment and birthday notices too. I can put their pictures in it and notes of what I did with them. I can even set it up to send them a 2 year notice that it’s time to come back in again for their $99 touch-up.
Current book you are reading? I read 2 – 3 books a week, mostly romance to shut my mind off after a busy day. Self help books, I bounce from John Maxwell leadership to Jim Rohn
working on developing my business skills.
What book do you recommend the most to other entrepreneurs? Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod – Great way to start the day and get you on the road to the good habits you need to do to be successful!
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received and who
gave it to you? Oh my gosh, I have gotten so many and so much thru the years. I owned a
franchise business with Aloette Cosmetics and had so many mentors thru the years that supported me, motivated me and taught me, one…. That is so hard because I came from an uneducated background, no sales skills, no business background and got so much from so many people. My mentor Barb Scherb from Canada, She was a top franchise owner in Vancouver BC, she took me, John and my two kids at that time and adopted us. We would spend weekends at her house just basking in her success in a business I was very new at. I would tell her, “When I get good at this I will be awesome!” She would reply, “You are already good at this, you just need to believe it and if you can’t believe it, say it out loud 20 times a day until you do. Your actions will follow your thoughts” I call myself a 20 year overnight success story (it was a very long night) I had a lot to learn about leadership, business, finances, motivations, training, sales, etc. but if there is a will, there is a way and I NEVER thought I couldn’t do it, I just knew I needed to learn the way to do it!
